I went on a short Disney Cruise in 2025- not because it was planned, but because it was on special here in Australia. Sometimes, it's these unexpected discounts or specials that change my direction in surprising ways. I wanted a new adventure and I wanted to try a short cruise to see if I'd get seasick. I didn't get seasick.

The decision ended up being perfect. It was booked for three adults-no kids- but as a huge Disney fan I was so grateful. A few months after our booking was placed, we later found out it would be the last season Disney visits Australia, which amplified my gratitude.

Even though it's a cruise aimed at children, it became a moment of inner child healing for me. Walking through the ship, seeing the attention to detail, the characters, experiencing the musicals & shows and reflecting on Walt Disney's humble beginnings reminded me how one little idea- a cartoon mouse- can grow into an empire when you trust it and nurture it.

Small, unplanned moments like this remind me to notice joy where it appears, even if it seems unexpected, even if it feels " just for kids". Sometimes the magic isn't in the planning-it's in the showing up.

I know some people may oppose my opinion, but I am glad the Brisbane casino precinct was saved.

The first time I visited, Queen's Wharf felt intentional-designed with movement, spectacle, and imagination in mind. Entering via George Street, the waterfall stairs set the tone immediately. Above, gardeners worked the hanging greenery, suspended on ropes like they were mid-operation. It felt cinematic- James Bond class with Top Gun energy.

Moving through the precinct, everything played its part. Luxury cars were positioned like clean getaway vehicles. A massive screen displayed real movies- a family friendly area for all to enjoy. But in my mind, that area doubled as the perfect landing zone for a helicopter, or a jet. Looking up, I imagined a jet weaving skillfully between the four towers, pure action-movie energy. In my opinion, only Tom Cruise could pull that off.

The fantasy followed me to the Skydeck. After the lift ride, Brisbane opened up beneath my feet. The view hit fast and wide-confident, alive. I stepped onto the glass walkway and looked straight down at the city moving below-streets like arteries.

Then I noticed him.

On the outside of the glass was a grasshopper. Perfectly still. Facing in. A symbol of luck, sure-but he looked more like an action hero on assignment. Calm. Focused. Unshaken by the height. Like he knew exactly why he was there. That moment stayed with me.

With the Brisbane Olympics ahead, this precinct feels like more than entertainment. It's a stage. A drawcard. A place that can support tourism, spark economic development and show the city with confidence.

Saved? I'm glad it was! Some missions comes with support, and some missions are just worth the backing-quiet heroes already in position, ready to move.
